INDUSTRIES REPORT.

SHANGHAI INDUSTRIES.

With reference to my despatch No. 1 E of

the 3rd January last, regarding the industrial

situation in Shanghai, and to despatch No.177 addressed

to me by His Majesty's Consul-General at Shanghai on

the 21st April last, on the subject of the Shanghai

cotton mills, of which a copy was sent to Your Lordship

direct as No. 115, I have the honour to transmit to

Your Lordship herewith a copy of a report on local

industries which, like the reports enclosed in my

despatch No. 456 E of the 19th May, was drawn up in

preparation for a projected conference of British

Chambers of Commerce in China.
