My

dear

Gent,

For the past few weeks your department have been kind

enough to send us copies of the weekly air mail reports on

the local situation at Hong Kong: the most recent one was

enclosed in Colonial Office letter No. 53838/36/39 of the

21st July.

2. We are rather doubtful whether the labour involved

in copying these reports to us is justified by the amount of

information they contain of immediate concern to this

department.

In the circumstances I think perhaps it will

be best if you discontinue sending them unless and until you

notice any item to which you think our attention should be

drawn.

G.E.J. Gent, Esq., D.S.0., 0.B.E.

Colonial Office.
