Dear Ronald,

At

With reference to our telephone conversation on

Saturday about your official letter F.9827/1831/10 of

6th September regarding priority for Chinese Government

orders, I enclose copy of a letter Shackle wrote to the

Export Credits Guarantee Department on 7th September.

Friday's meeting of the Export Licensing Committee Nixon

said this was a matter for the Allied Demands Sub-Committee

and I understand that Export Credits Guarantee Department

will raise the question very on that body not

shortly

also

merely as it concerns China, but as it concerns the various

other Governments who have Credit Agreements with us. In

any case I presume you will have it raised, but on the

question of the machinery to enable the Export Licensing

Department to identify these Government

Orders,

Bankes-Amery has said that he will agree procedure with

Nixon.

N.B. Ronald, Esq., C.M.G. C.V.O.

Yours sincerely,

Arleauvil
