With reference to the orders which my
Government desires, under the Export Credits arrange-
ments, to place with British firms for steel, tools
and miscellaneous materials, I have the honour to
request Your Lordship that, owing to the particular
urgency of the case, priority may be given to these
orders. I am informed by firms who have tendered
for the supply of these materials that they have
experienced difficulties in obtaining the necessary
export licence for the exportation of the materials.
Consequently, the signing of contracts is thereby
delayed. I shall be most grateful if Your Lordship
will be so good as to move the Department concerned
to facilitate the issue of the export licence and
favour me with an early reply.
