There is no local paper currency.

The notes of the Colonial Bank issued from the various branches in the West Indies circulate at their full value.

The accounts are kept in British sterling.

St. Kitts-Act No. 86 of 1849 for assimilating the moneys of the Islands of St. Christopher and Anguilla to those of the United Kingdom.

Secs. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 contains provisions similar to the Antigua Act 96 of 1847 above referred to.

Virgin Islands.-Act No. 3 of 1876 to demonetize silver dollars, Spanish, Mexican, and Columbian.

The Attorney-General observes that various Acts have from time to time been passed and various Proclama- tions issued with the object of demonetizing specific coin, but the above are all that can be found on the subject of the circular.

Paper currency in circulation.-None legally. There are a few notes of the several branches of the Colonial Bank in circulation, and also some of the bank in the Island of St. Thomas (Danish).

Accounts are kept in sterling.

Dominica.-Act No. 72 of 1842 to provide for the assimilation of the currency with that of Great Britain, and for the keeping of all accounts in the currency so established.

Sec. 1. Currency of Great Britain to be the currency of the Island.

Sec. 2. All payments to be made in sterling at the rate of 2501. for 1001. sterling.

Sec. 3. All payments into and receipts from the Treasury to be in sterling.

Sec. 4. Contracts, &c. may be made in currency of foreign parts, Act not to affect the chartered rights of any bank.

Sec. 5. All debts contracted before passing of Act to be within meaning of Act.

Sec. 6. Money mentioned in wills to be reduced into sterling.
