Following is text Foreign Office telegram No. 324
Guidance.
The Fifth Field Regiment Royal Artillery is leaving United Kingdom on September 12th for Hong Kong. This regiment forms part of our permanent garrison in Far East and its move is a routine one which has been planned for several months.
2.In view of present situation in Far East no announcement of the move will be made, but facts in paragraph 1 above will be drawn on in answer to press enquiries. You should not volunteer comments, but may state the facts if questioned. You should take line that statement means what it says and deny any suggestion that move is linked with situation in Formosa Strait.

2. Please inform Commonwealth authorities of move and of line wo are taking.
