LINES OF COMMUNICATION LEADING TO
HONG KONG
The main lines of communication are:-

All these roads are dirt surfaced, and are of very reduced
value in times of heavy rain when they would probably not
support sustained military traffic.

Routes (iii), (iv) and (v) are not independent in so
far as they have in common the stretch of road between
HENG KANG and LUNG KANG. This constitutes a bottle
neck which greatly reduces the logistical value of
these three main roads.
The road construction within the immediate vicinity
of the frontier has also opened up the coast line of
Mirs Bay and has extended into the Chi Niang Shan
Peninsula.
It is reasonable to assume that road development is
NOT confined to the immediate frontier area and is in
progress further back.
The roads to Bias Bay are also being improved.
At present, the new roads adjacent to the frontier are
still dependent upon the main lines of communication
in para (a) above, but as they develop in conjunction
with road development further back, this will
represent an increased capability.
