Peking.)

My telegram No. 33.

Deportation of Chinese Cinema Workers.

Five of those concerned took part in a broadcast from the official station in Canton lasting one hour on 18th January. Main speaker was Szema Wien Sen who was somewhat more virulent than the rest, All five, however, spoke on very similar lines denouncing persecution of Chinese inhabitants of Hong Kong for "patriotic activities". All speeches included declarations that Hong Kong is an integral part of Chinese territory and threats that "in the not distant future we shall return"

(Copies to F.0. for repetition to Peking.)
