Recommendations.

13.

To sum up, we recommend

(a) That the Joint Planning Committee should be re-

inforced forthwith, by three second grade Staff Officers and an additional secretary, at the same time the number of Staff Officers attached to the British Military Representatives should be reduced from three to one.

(b) That the Joint Planning Committee should ensure

that close touch is maintained with the Allied Military Committee particularly during

examination of problems which are likely to be discussed with the French at a later stage.

(c) That it should be left to the discretion of the

Directors of Plans to decide whether any

particular subject should be discussed with the French prior to the approval of the Chiefs of Staff, bearing in mind the advantages to be obtained from discussion at an early stage.
