LORD CHATFIELD said that there was always a controversy in gunnery circles between the advocates of the smaller gun with the higher rate of fire, and the advocates of the larger gun with bigger burst and greater range. An anti-aircraft battery Commander had expressed strong views to him quite recently as to the merits of the 3-inch gun, with its high rate of fire.
SIR KINGSLEY WOOD suggested that the matter might be re-examined by the Chiefs of Staff, after further consultation with the Commander-in-Chief.
