Instructors and tug pilots from the training organisation will also be available for operations.

6.

A decision must be reached in the near future as to the priority to be given to shipping for the training organisation which will have to be set up in INDIA.

7

The total establishment of this organisation has been , approximately, estimated as:-

Officers Other Ranks

AIRCRAFT.

Training Type

(Magister)

Light Tugs

(Single engined)

340.

... 3,500.

108.

65.

Heavy Tugs

(Twin engined)

...

46.

Motor tractors

The shipping required to transport the M.T., ground equipment and aircraft, other than heavy tugs, for this organisation will amount to some 11,050 shipping tons. Heavy tugs of the Wellington or larger type would have to be flown to India. If, on the other hand, a medium range type, proves suitable for towing the large gliders, an additional 9,200 shipping tons would be needed to deliver the 46 heavy tugs required.

8.

No allowance has been made for shipping gliders as it is presumed that these will all be manufactured in INDIA. Government of INDIA signal No.5.1916 of 23rd November, however, casts some doubt as to whether the Indian-built HORSA will be available early enough and we may have to ship some of these 25-seaters from this country.

1st December, 1941.
