Captured Italian war material will, we hope the Greeks to prolong the struggle for a short time: Every effort is being made in Libya to salve and send Greece serviceable Italian equipment, but the captured supplies are unlikely to do more than add a few more weeks to the period during which the needs of the Greek army can be met.

Conclusion.

A telegram+ by General Heywood from Greece corroborates the desperate situation with which the Greeks will shortly be faced, as set out in the report by Lord Hankey's Committee.

The only immediate help which might have any effect, is to supply raw materials for the Greek arsenal. We recommend that India and South Africa should be asked to supply steel and brass as a matter of urgency, since supplies could reach Greece much quicker from these two countries than from the United Kingdom.
