Experimentally, Bren Carrier is being equipped with adaptable cylinders for flame-throwing and a larger vehicle for a flame thrower of some 60 yards range. These should be available shortly. In addition apparatus is under
construction for the demonstration of flame-throwers giving a range of 100 yards. All these developments are being worked out in close co-operation with the Research Department, Woolwich.
Fire Cars.
Methods of making temporary road blocks by filling old motor cars with petroleum products have been evolved. The fire burns fiercely for some hours.

A number of these have been prepared in Southern Command.
Petrol Mortars.
A Mortar firing 5 gallon drums a distance of 500 yards at a rate of 10 a minute has been designed by Colonel Newton and is undergoing development at the Department's Experimental Station.
Petrol Guns.
A number of devices for projecting incendiary material operated by electricity, by pressure and by the internal combustion principle are under experimental construction.
