250. Free French Leader plans sea attack on Libreville on 27th October to follow up attack from land (oorrupt group).
General de Gaulle who is up country has not yet agreed, but it is hoped he will do so and understand that every endeavour will be made to this end,
Following British Naval support has been requested:- (a) Bombardment of Dennis Battery Canal requested.
b) Entrance of H. M. S. DELHI to harbour if support for
Free French ships against shore is needed.
Should de Gaulle approve of plan intend to agree to provide British (?) naval assistance requested, for (a) by HM.S. DEVONSHIRE and for (b) subject to receipt of report from French Sloop SAVORGNAN-de-BRAZZA as to position of Penelope Pass Buoy.
At decision ($) of Free French Commander Rotherhan and Liaison Officers are being returned to Duala.
In Spears' message 1515/16 to War Office I strongly recommended approval of loan of aircraft from Takoradi if Free French aircraft cannot be assembled in time.
