of the Consul, satisfactory disposal of petrol on a gentleman's agreement and reduction of coal stocks, (3) that we permit barter arrangement because on balance we gain more by the military concessions the French have received than the Italians do by the exchange of equal weight of coal and sugar, (4) that arrangement be made for improvement of communications on intelligence grounds, (5) that we ask the French to give an assurance that no further concessions be made to Italy either in regard to military clauses of the Armistice or in the economic field.
