Ports of Disembarkation,

10. Although outside the terms of reference all ports in Ireland have been included in the survey, detailed particulars are contained in an annex

to this paper,

These ports can be divided into three categories:- Ports with facilities for unloading M. T. and guns.

Anchorages which could berth large numbers of ships

but have little or no port facilities. Dis- embarkation must therefore be by M.L.C. which are not available. These ports are therefore unsuitable for the disembarkation of our force which has an offensive role. This does not preclude the use of these ports by an enemy who has suitable craft for the disembarkation of guns and vehicles on an open beach.

Ports with limited anchorage and little or no port facilities. These ports might however be used by

the enemy.
