Recommendations,

17.

Our recommendations are:

Army.

(i)

That the following additional forces should be

despatched to Iceland as a matter of urgency;

From the United Kingdom.

1 Infantry Brigade 1 Field Battery R.A.

12 Heavy A.A. guns.

8 Light A.A guns.

4 D.E.LS.

Already approvež by Canadian Government.

The Military Commander considers that the above coale of A.A, guns is required, These guns should be sent as soon as they can be spared. He has expressed his opinion that Hispano 20 mm. long guns would be suitable as light A‚‚ guns,

(ii) That Canada should be requested to take over

or nuch as the maintenance as possible particularly supplies.

Air.

(iii)

That the Walrus aircraft should be despatched

in II.M,S. Argus as arranged and that H.M. Argus should remain in Iceland until satisfactory operational facilities have been established for these aircraft.

(iv) That the preparation of an aerodrome at

Kaldadarnes should be carried out as a

matter of urgency

(v)

Naval.

That one medium bomber squadron should be

sent to Iceland as soon as the aerodrome is ready.

(vi)

That nine additional local Naval Defence

vessels should be provided.
