Diversions.

ELEMY OBJECTIVES.

Sabotage may be combined with (A) above and may start simultaneously, or in advance. Objectives. Factories. Aircraft.

Vital points in communication facilities.

inter-communication facilities

telephone exchanges.

Dockyards.

Release of Internees and prisoners of war.

Communications with enemy

Naval operations, including raiders in the ocean trade routes in order to reduce our Naval strength in the North Sea area.

Intensive submarine attack on Western Approaches to draw off light naval forces. Attacks by seaborne or air- borne troops.

with a view to causing the greatest possible dispersion of our forces.

Seaborne expedition from Norway (see remarks column note (b)). Scale of air attack will be limited by the need to conserve the maximum resources for the main attack on Great Britain. force of 1,000 (c) men including a proportion of parachutists, may be employed.

REMARKS.

It is believed that certain acts of sabotage have already taken place.

J.I.C. consider that the most stringent precautions against aliens and other subversive elements are of the first importance.

(b) Note. Note:

At present shipping for only one division is available in Norway. Man-power is not a limiting factor as Norway can be reinforced at any moment without our

knowledge. To increase this figure it would only be necessary for the Germans to provide more shipping.

(c) Note.

This figure of 1,000 men is a conservative one based on normal methods of conveying troops by air. If a large number of gliders are to be used it may be increased considerably.
