There shall be a Secretary and Assistant-Secretary of the Council, whose remune- ration shall be :—

The remuneration of the Committees and their members shall be fixed from time to time by the Council.
(1) The executive power in the territories under the control of the Company shall be vested in a Governor-General, who shall reside at Khartoum, and whose tenour of office shall be for five years, subject to good behaviour.
His remuneration shall be

(m.) The Governor-General shall be assisted in his duties by a Local Council composed of the Chiefs of Departments and such persons as the Council may appoint.
(n.) The local appointments and promotions shall be made by the Governor- General, subject to the approval of the Council, and he may delegate this power to heads of Departments if he deem fit.
(0.) The first efforts of the Company shall be devoted to the restoration of peace and order and in order to attain this end the Council shall be free to use what means they may deem advisable.
(p.) It shall be within the right of the Sultan to accept a certain number of the obligations of the Company, and also of its share capital, in lieu of tribute, and if this is agreed upon the Company shall assign such shares and obligations to him. Interest upon such to be deferred.
(4.) If the previous clause is not carried into effect the Sultan shall receive 50 per cent. of the surplus revenues of the Company after--
1. The expenses of Government are defrayed.
2. 5 per cent. interest paid on the obligations of the Company.
3.5 per cent. interest on the shares of the Company.
This will depend upon is Imperial Highness giving the undertaking his active and moral support.
(r.) The remainder of the surplus revenues will be paid to their shareholders. (s.) The Company shall have special powers to enter into agreements and arrangements with the Governments of the Sultan and Italy, and also of the King of Abyssinia.
(4.) If any subvention or assistance be granted to the Company by the Goveru- ment of Great Britain, it shall rank, as regards interest and representation, with the obligations of the Company.
