Cabinet 42 (28). Con- clusion 15.)
1. The Prime Minister informed his colleagues
that he had received from the Parliamentary Secretary
to the Treasury a detailed statement in regard to
the time available in the forthcoming Session of
Parliament, as well as particulars as to unavoidable
business which had to be transacted. The result was
to indicate that, from the point of view of the time
required to carry out the Government's programme,
it would be a difficult Session. He undertook to
circulate the Parliamentary Secretary's Memorandum
before the next Meeting of the Cabinet, with a view
to a discussion of Government business. He particu-
larly asked the Minister of Health and the Secretary
of State for Scotland to let him know before the
next Meeting of the Cabinet how much Parliamentary
time would be required for carrying out the Rating
Reform proposals.
The Cabinet agreed
(a) To hold their next Meeting on
Monday next, October 1st, at 3 p.m., for the principal purpose of discussing Government Business:
(b) That a Memorandum by the Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury should be circulated for their information:
(c) That the Minister of Health and the
Secretary of State for Scotland should notify the Prime Minister as to the amount of Parliamentary time required in connection with Rating Reform Bills.
