The Cabinet had before them a Memor SA-
dum by the Financial Secretary to the Treasury
(Paper C.P.-224 (28)) covering, and asking for authority to introduce during the present Session,
the Public Works Loans Bill.
The Prime Minister said he had been given to understand that the Bill could be postponed until November or December, in which case the new Bill would enable the Government to carry on until after the General Election.
He would
therefore prefer to take the Bill in the new
Sessionof Parliament.
The Cabinet agreed
That the matter should be dealt with by the Prime Minister, in consultation with the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
