THE PRIME MINISTER, summing up the discussion, said that the Committee
accepted the Foreign Secretary's proposals. We should not supply arms
which were exclusively offensive in character; this would mean that it
would not be open to our industry to supply medium bombers or guided mis-
siles but that aircraft such as the Harrier, the Lightning and the Hunter
could be supplied, as could Centurion tanks. The supply of Chieftain
