Remarks
The report of the Leasehold
Committee is now expected to be presented at the end of this year and it may be desirable to introduce legis- lation as a result of this, though it seems doubtful whether the Bill could be drafted in time.
A Bill to provide assistance
for the improvement of marginal land of a more extensive character than is possible under the existing marginal land production
scheme.
There is little
doubt that such a Bill would prove popular in rural areas.
The accountancy profession have already prepared a Bill which they had hoped might be spon- sored by a Private Member. It is designed to give them an enhanced professional status and the Board of Trade might be willing to take the Bill over as a Government
measure.
Town and Country A Bill to amend the 1947 Act. Planning
The Ministerial Committee which has been set up to consider the principles on which development charges are determined might produce recommendations which would have some attraction.
On
the other hand this is an extremely intricate branch of the law and any proposals for amendment require the most careful consideration.
Drafting would of course be difficult and it might be very hard to restrict the scope of the Bill so as to prevent undesirable criticism or amendments.
