Professor Hilditch commented, January 7, 1949 :-

"The free fatty acid content of the sun-dried seeds was quite reasonably low, and no significant reduction resulted from the heat treatment. So far it would appear that heat treatment is unnecessary if the standards of harvesting and drying already achieved can be maintained on the production scale. The extracted oils were pale yellow in colour and in this respect also were very good specimens for crude sunflower seed oil."
