MIDDLE EAST POLICY
NOTE BY THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS
I have recently reviewed our whole policy in the Middle East with His Majesty's Representatives in most of the Middle East countries. I should like to give the Cabinet a complete picture of our interests and objectives in that area as I see them as a result of these discussions. I circulate herewith a paper drawn up for this purpose.
This does not contain any striking innovation. It is mainly a reaffirmation of the policy pursued hitherto, which is itself the result of a progressive develop- ment since this Government took office.
If the general lines of the paper are approved, I shall regard it as a general directive for all Middle East questions.
