1. Storage.

Same as for Europeans.

2. Manner of obtaining Supplies.

Atta.-Atta about 12,000 rations reserve in the

Colony. Flour would have to be substituted. Rice.-About 26,000,000 lb. available in Colony, Dhal.—About 40,000 lb., Indian, available in Colony,

same amount Chinese.

Ghee.-Sufficient probably procurable in Colony. Salt, fuel, rice, tea, sugar or ghoor, potatoes, vege-

tables. Same as for Europeans.

Onions, garlic, and masalas.--Onions sufficient in Colony. Masalas would have to be obtained from India.

3. Loval Reserves available in case of Necessity.

Meat.-Goats would have to be obtained from

Shanghai, Swatow, and Amoy.

All other kinds of food could be obtained from Calcutta in about three weeks' time, or Chinese provisions could be in some cases enbstituted,

Fish.--An inexhaustible supply of fresh fish arrives

in Hong Kong daily, and would probably continue, Fish, dried.-Ample supplies in Hong Kong. Rice, salt, oil, fuel, &c.-Same as for Indians. Vegetables, fresh.-- Same as for Europeans and

Chinese. Vegetables, salted.-About one month's supply avail-

able; they are generally used by the Chinese.
