Orders to O.C. Section VII (Sanitarium).

General Duties.-The Section Commander will at all times keep himself familiarized with the character of the area comprised in his command, with all detail of troops and matériel assigned to his section, and with the objects and duties intrusted to him.

On mobilization he will be directly responsible to the General Com- manding for at once reporting any deficiencies, for maintaining the discipline. and efficiency of the troops placed under his charge, and for the due perform- ance of these instructions.

He will also on mobilization be responsible for the quartering of his men. In active operations he will, so far as is compatible with his responsibility, leave the working of the arms, other than his own, to the Senior Officers of those arms respectively.

Any officers and men of the Fortress Company and Submarine Mining Company who may be localized in the sections will be under his command, but subject to the supervision, for engineering and submarine mining purposes, of the Engineer officers in charge of the district and of submarine mining respec- tively.

Area. The area of this section is that embraced by the two lines: Aber- deen-Little Hong Kong on the south, and Plantation Gap-Wanchai Gap on the north, and the lines joining them on the west from Aberdeen by the centre of the long spur of Mount Gough, and on the east by the centre of Mount Cameron.

Scope. The object of this section is to prevent a landing at Aberdeen, to protect the road leading thence to Wanchai and Magazine Gaps, and to pro- tect those gaps from the advance of a party from Little Hong Kong or Aber- deen.

This section is, with Sections IV, V, and VI, under the general tactical command of the Senior Major of the European infantry regiment. Distribution.-The troops will be distributed as follows :-
