Details of Mobilization.

1. On receiving the orders to prepare the supplementary defence you will obtain from the Naval Secretary the names of the launches which have been taken up. They will be taken from the following:---

2. They will be provided through the Colonial Harbour Master on requisition from the Naval Secretary.

3. They will be taken by their own crews to the parent gunboat detailed, which ship will be noted on the requisition.

4. The parent sloop or gunboat will provide the following crew:--

1 officer, commissioned or warrant.

1 P.O. seaman.

1 P.O. stoker or leading stoker.

4 seamen.

1 signalman.

5. If not already done, the launch will then be taken in hand by the Dockyard and fitted to take a 12-pr. 8 cwt. gun from her parent gunboat; assistance may be expected from "Tamar's" carpenters.

6. The parent gunboat will provide :-

1-12-pr. 8 cwt. gun.

60 rounds of 12-pr. ammunition-shell.

5 rifles.

2 half-boxes ·303".

5 pistols.

1 box pistol ammunition.

7 cutlasses.

7. The launch is to be painted grey--black funnel with two white bands.

8. The crew (naval) will bring their own bedding, mess gear, and food.

9. When complete you will report to the Commodore.

10. Your anchorage is to be in Taitam Bay, with headquarters at Stanley.

11. You will, on receipt of your orders, proceed there, being clear of the harbour before sunset.

12. You will establish a patrol between the following points-the number of craft on each line being determined by the number available:-

No. 1. Taitam Head to Waglan.

No. 2. South end of Lantong and Waglan.

13. If numbers permit, a gunboat, as a support, is to be off Cape D'Aguilar.

14. You are to impress on all concerned that these launches are not to attempt to enter the harbour by night; Stanley is their base.
