By Night and in Foggy Weather.

15. The piquets as set forth below will be furnished by the supports. These piquets will send patrols every hour alternately to the piquets on their right and left. The supports will similarly communicate by patrol with their own piquets. The reserves will furnish detachments at the Gaps and other important points in their lines, and will similarly communicate by patrols with their own supports.

These arrangements should make it impossible for an enemy to land anywhere on the west, south, or east coast of the island without being discovered. If a landing in force is attempted, the piquets may be forced to retire on their supports, and it may further be necessary that the supports should retire on their reserves the line occupied by the latter must be held.
