(3.) No. II Section Commander.
The principal points to be watched by the double company detailed to this section. in Table B (i), are Deep Water Bay and Taihowan Bay to protect cable landing places, and Aberdeen to prevent its seizure as a landing place. The two companies detailed should be those which on mobilization would be detailed to watch this part of the coast-line.
(4.) No. III Section Commander.
At
On the Lyemun side there is storage for water in all the forts, and arrangements are being made to lay on water. At Devil's Peak the water is stored at the forts. detached posts water will have to be carried from the nearest supply by regimental water-carriers ("bheesties").
(5.) No. IV Section Commander.
You should keep, for your successor's guidance
(a.) An approved "outpost scheme."
(b.) A plan of proposed camp on Kowloon rifle range, showing water supply, position of latrines, &c., for units.
(c.) You will issue the necessary orders to the guards over cable ends at Yaumati and the Kowloon Docks, and arrange for them to be visited.
(6.) Instructions to O.C. Reserve.
(i.) At the Precautionary Stage.
1. The Reserve consists of the four companies of the British battalion stationed in Murray Barracks, with details not allotted to sections, and is to be held in readiness at the disposal of the G.O.C.
2. Ammunition to complete 300 rounds per rifle, and Maxim ammunition up to 11,000 rounds per gun, will be drawn immediately from the A.O.D.
3. A short course for the men of the British battalion previously instructed in heavy gun drill will be formed under arrangements to be made with the C.R.A.
(ii.) At the War Stage.
1. You will despatch at once by electric tram and route march the company detailed as a special detachment to its position on Mount Parker, handing the following order to the O.C. company :—
Orders for O.C. Special Detachment, Mount Parker.
1. You will take up the defensive position allotted to you on Mount Parker.
2. Your command is independent of any section, and you are not under the orders of any Section Commander.
3. Your special duty is to hold your position as the reduit of the fortress, and it is not to be abandoned under any circumstances.
4. You will establish signalling communication with the Os.C. Nos. II and III Sections.
5. In case of hostile landing on the east or south, you are charged with the duty of frustrating any attempt to take the Saiwan and Lyemun Batteries in reverse.
6. You will take with you 300 rounds s.a.a. per rifle. A further reserve will be sent you. 7. Rations and water will be supplied to you direct by the O.C.A.S.C. No requisitions will be required.
