The following will be connected up and embarked the first evening ready for laying out next

day :-

On "Solent" (3rd trip).-Nine lines, 61 to 78, and two groups. A and B.

On "Miner" (3rd trip).-Five groups, 00, NN, MM, LL, KK.

On "Megohm" (3rd trip).-Nine groups, AA, BB, CC, DD, EE, FF, GG, HH, JJ.

Second day

On "Solent" (4th trip).-Seven groups, CC, DD, EE, FF, GG, HH, JJ.

On "Solent" (5th trip).—Three groups, A, B, C, and seven lines, 41 to 54.

(6.) Laying-out Parties:-

First day-

"Solent" (1st trip).-Lay from deck J.B. moorings, group cables and lines, I to 18, and

return.

(2nd trip).-Embark and lay from deck lines, 19 to 27, and groups A, B. C.

Then embark and lay two or three groups from "Megohm."

"Miner" (1st trip).-Lay moorings and boxes for I, II, III, B, L, E, O, H, R, and return.

(2nd trip). Embark and lay from deck D, E, F, G, Il groups, and lay six or seven

groups from "Megohm.

Megohm" (1st trip).-Lay main cables I, II, III, B, L, E, O, H, R, and return to pier. (2nd trip). Embark and take out J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, and return to pier.

Second day :-

"Solent" (3rd trip).—Lay from deck lines, 61 to 78, and groups AA, BB, and return to

S.M. Pier.

(4th trip).-Embark and lay from deck seven groups, CC, DD, EE, FF, GG, HH, JJ, and

return to S.M. Pier.

"Miner" (3rd trip).-Lay from deck groups 00, NN, MM, LL, KK, in this order, and

from Megohm," JJ, HH, GG, FF, EE, DD, CC, BB, AA, in this order and return. Megohm" take out AA, BB, CC, DD, EE, FF, GG, HH, JJ groups.

Third day :-

"Solent" (5th trip).-Lay from deck lines 41 to 54.

"Miner" repair defects as ordered.

(7.) J. B. Boats :—

First day:

To I, II, III. B, L, E, 0, H, R, then all boats to E.C. groups as required. Second day :-

Boats to 00, NN, MM, LL, KK for mines, and iv, v, vi for "Solent," then as required. No J.B. buoys are to be removed till the whole minefield is laid out.

Bad mines to be left disconnected but not picked up till all are laid out.

(8.) Working Hours and Meals :-

1st working parade

Breakfast

2nd working parade

Tiffin

3rd working parade

Dinner

4th working parade, 7.30 P.M. till work for day is completed.

5.30 A.M.

Test room and observing station parties arrange their own meals under Section arrangements. Breakfast and tiffin for J.B. boats to be taken out by launch.

Water parties get breakfast after or just before first trip, and tiffin after second trip, or latter may be taken out to minefield. All parties should be back for dinner.

(9.) Dress and Equipment :-

Working dress, with haversack and waterbottle. No arms, belts, or other accoutrements.

(10.) Detail of quartering of R. E. for S.M. and Electric Light, &c., as shown in Table E (v).
