LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF MOTIONS TO BE MADE AT THE MEETING OF LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL KY THE HON. F. BERKELEY JOHNSON ON 7TH FEBRUARY 1882.

1st. That His Excellency will be pleased to direct the Acting Colonial Secretary to lay upon the table copies of letters ad- dressed by me to the Acting Colonial Secretary dated 2nd December, with enclosures, and 7th and 15th December, and of the Acting Colonial Secretary's replies dated respectively 5th and 13th Desember, also that His Excellency will be pleased to lay upon the table copies of a letter addressed by Mr T. C. Hayllar to the Secretary of State for the Colonies dated on or about 27th July, 1881, of u covering despatch from His Excellency the Governor about the same date, and of a letter from Mr T. C. Hayllar to the Secretary of State asking permission to withdraw his despatch of 27th July, 1881, and dated 8th Sept., comprising a series of documents which have been exhibited

to Members of Council by His Excel- laney's directions. 2nd.--That His Excellency will be pleased to direct the Acting Colonial Secretary to lay on the table copies of any correspond. ence between the Government of this Co- lony and the Government of New South Wales relative to the barbarous treatment received by the Chinese passengera ou board the steamer Ocean at Sydney in the months of June and July last
