I am willing to sanction2. While sanctioning the grant to each of their widows of the gratuity proposed by the Captain Superintendent of Police, namely a sum equal to three months' full pay of their deceased husbands respectively; but I have to draw your attention to the rule laid down in my despatch No.100 of the 13th of August, 1879 that applications for such allowances should be, except in most exceptional circumstances, refused.
