Adverting to your Letter No. ... of the 7th instant; I have the honour, by direction of His Excellency the Governor, to state that there is nothing in the papers of the Surveyor General to authorize such gratuities as you suggest to Mr King and Mr Landon, &c.
I am to add that His Excellency cannot recommend the Secretary of State to sanction same.
