3. The second petition is
from
the widow of a late Constable, who died on the
25th February. This constable
served about nine years.
For six months he was

not so efficient an officer through his want of Edu-
cation, but his wife, native of the neighbouring Portuguese Colony of Macao, is left destitute. I therefore
beg
to recommend the
grant
of four months' pay, $148, to be paid to her.
4. The above are the first
two
cases in the force that
have arisen in which married European Officers
of more than five years'
service have died whilst
on the Services Roll.
