In my opinion, a rigorous and searching enquiry, before an independent tribunal, can alone purge the Colony of the shameful and notorious offence which has been given to its character, and I repeat that I shall take the earliest opportunity, which the forms of the Legislative Council will afford, to move a resolution on the subject.
