enclosures dated respectively 4th November, and 5th November 1881,

but His Excellency the Governor further gave me, unsolicited, a

certificate expressing satisfaction with

my services and

his regret at losing them, as Your Lordship will observe from

the enclosure dated 15th November 1881.

6. Those three inclosures, connected with my resignation, I humbly submit, show clearly that up to 15th November 1881, when the Governor must have been for some time fully

aware of

all the circumstances, he was not of opinion that I had

spoken to Mr. Johnson and others without

even excessive instructions.

7. I further humbly beg to solicit Your Lordship's attention to the fact, shown by enclosures of correspondence with the Colonial Secretary, dated respectively 6th December, 14th December, 15th December and 17th December 1881, that I appealed three times to the Governor in Council for

an immediate and

delayed inquiry without effect,

and especially also I beg your Lordship's attention to the following point.
