I must further crave Your Lordship's indulgent consideration of the following additional observations.
4. Were it true, as His Excellency the Governor now alleges, "I had no positive instructions to speak to Mr. Johnson and others as I did speak to them", His Excellency, who was on or after his return from the North, on 24th October 1881, fully aware of everything I had done, should have interdicted me forthwith and charged me before the Executive Council with a view to my suspension from office.
5. But instead of doing so, His Excellency the Governor not only repeatedly declined my urgent requests, which I on other grounds preferred, to be allowed to resign, as Your Lordship will observe from the enclosures.
