It seems to me that in this correspondence Dr Eitel throws more light but does not add anything to exculpate himself from the two charges Bakewell laid against him in his letter of 27 Dec: he ultimately pleaded guilty and for which he has been censured.
I should like to see the "important papers of extraction" which Dr Eitel is said (and as he does not deny it must be presumed to have signed the report (see pages of minutes).
They went a good deal further than the "authoritative statement" sent with his Confidential despatch of last mail.
