suffice to show how it came about that, after making in September certain statements to Mr. Johnson which I then believed to be true, I had to admit in November to Mr. Hayllar, that the substance of those statements specified in his petition, was not true.
43. In submitting the above observations, in triplicate, I respectfully beg that they be forwarded to the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies together with the letter of Mr. Johnson, of 10th December, and its enclosures.
