important posts, you conceive it to be your duty to bring the case before the Legislative Council, at its next meeting.

2. In reply, I am directed by His Excellency the Governor, to point out to you that the proper tribunal, for investigating such charges against Dr Eitel, is the Executive Council, and not the Legislative Council.

3. The fullest opportunity will be given to you to bring the charges against Dr Eitel before the Executive Council, and Dr Eitel will also have opportunity of defending himself fully before that tribunal, in the mode laid down in the Colonial Regulations.
