I have the honour to enclose, for the information of His Excellency The Governor in Council, the following documents relating to the late case of Hayllar v Eitel, in the Supreme Court, viz:
Copy of a letter, dated 19th Sept 1881, addressed by myself to the Reverend E. J. Eitel, who is at present Inspector of Schools and Supervising Interpreter to the Supreme Court.
A certified copy of Eitel's reply thereto dated 19th September 1881, sent as Private Secretary to His Excellency the Governor.
Copy of a further communication addressed by me to Dr Eitel, dated 19th September 1881.
Copy of a letter addressed by me to Mr G. C. Hayllar QC, dated 21st September 1881.
Copy of a formal statement made by me on the 22nd September, at the request of Mr Walter Hayllar, his Solicitor, detailing the facts.
