5th instant, Jam

In reply to your letter of the 5th instant, I am directed by the Earl of Kimberley to inform you that Her Lordship is unable to give any further instructions or directions to the Crown Agents in the matter of your leave.

Copies Kfor. 27.

In issuing the directions of April, they were authorized to withhold two days' half salary in August on the payment of salary for that day, should it be necessary under the Colonial Regulations, dated from 30 days leave in April.

It appears from the schedule (of which a copy is attached) that any deduction will be less by half a day's salary than that authorized.

I beg therefore to request that the Crown Agents may be instructed to make the deduction in strict accordance with their usual practice.
