the latter, that the position chosen for the
New Police Barracks is by no means desirable as that occupied by the present Police building,
which being nearer the centre of the peninsula, commands a more extensive view
of the harbour, specially towards the west, obviously an important feature in the proper surveillance of the harbour and its approaches, by the Police.
4. I would therefore strongly recommend that the projected new building be placed where the present one stands, in lieu of the less favoured spot proposed, and if the width of the site admits, it would even be better still, to place it in front of, or to the south of the present building in the direction of Kowloon Point, so as to still further widen the view of the harbour towards Hung Hom.
Opposition on sanitary grounds would be equally desirable, I see.
