did not at that line deny the accuracy of the report in the "Daily Mail", and have thus allowed all the intendent inferences to be taken for granted upon its merits. Lord Kimberly is unable at the present stage of the matter to admit any statements tending now to impugn that report. He is compelled, having been assured by you as regards it as substantially an accurate account of what took place, and he therefore desires to request that you will furnish him with a definite reply to the letter from this Department of the 12th instant in which you were informed that his Lordship will be compelled to confirm your dismissal, unless you prefer to tender your resignation.

As regards your enquiry resulting from the charges brought by you against Mr. Justice Hutchison, Sir John Smale being acquainted with you, Lord Kimberly has desired the Governor to furnish a further report.
