I am to state that the Secretary of State for the Colonies has laid before Mr. Secretary Matthews your farther letter of 22nd "ult." on the subject of the selection of a Reporter for the Board of Trade Returns at Hong Kong.

I am to state in reply that the Secretary of State for the Colonies desires farther particulars of the nature of the Industries to which the authorities at Hong Kong think they should apply.
