Myfer do will not object to a provisional ordinance being passed containing clauses 5, 4, (amended as proposed in accordance with the proviso contained in the Letter from This Department of 19th August last (11475), and 5, of the Draft Ordinance prepared in 1880; but on the understanding that, as soon as the revised Hong Kong Ordinance is passed, a complete Ordinance shall be prepared in the Straits Settlement incorporating or quoting such parts of the Hongkong Ordinance as may be material; and that such revised Ordinance shall be sent home, as a draft, for approval before it becomes law, and should repeal the temporary legislation now proposed.
