than the Crown Agents

of whom shall be at the rate of One thousand pounds (£1000) per annum for the time spent in the Colony, but he shall not receive less than the sum of seven hundred pounds; together with free passages out and home, and travelling expenses but not Hotel or Lodging expenses whilst in the Colony.

That the Government shall provide the Engineer with such office accommodation and Clerical assistance whilst in the Colony and provide him with all chain laborers &c as may be absolutely required in connection with the work.

That the Plans, Estimates, Reports &c to be furnished by the said Engineer are to remain the property of the Government.

That in the event of any dispute or difference arising between the Government and the Engineer, the payment due to him or with respect to the work performed by him, the question or questions in dispute shall be referred to the Secretary of State for the Colonies whose decision shall be final.

That the Crown Agents, shall not be in any way personally liable for anything arising out of this Agreement.
