The objection to the statement now proposed by the Attorney General is that the material allegation in it is not brief.
The statement that the Colonial Secretary appears to have handed to the Attorney General is, I perceive, an accurate statement; and, if the Colonial Secretary is satisfied that it is accurate, and accords with the despatches stating the facts, it should be adhered to.
