I beg to state that I intend to take leave and I respectfully request to do so at this stage. Precedents for relinquishing half of my office on termination of leave on pay are to be found in the cases of Mr. Achey (1874), who retired without refunding the pay he drew; of Mr. Bur... (C20 474 of 1878); and Mr. Kinepool (C20 ...); and Mr. Grey (1979 and again in 1980).

It is my wish that my pay should be drawn in this colony; I have, therefore, the honour to respectfully apply for sanction to that course, and that, in accordance with Regulation No. 125, I may be provided with the documents therein alluded to.

I have to add the request that the Honourable Colonial Treasurer may be authorised to return to me the security I deposited on assumption of the duties of Accountant in this Department.

Bunn Christian Maquar
Accountant of Police.
